Welcome to the Mortal Compass! a space between life and death where you a measly clerk from the afterlife get to sort souls for eternity from eternity!

Just simply press the directional buttons to sort the souls into their forever destination! read carefully as some deeds go unpunished and some happen for a reason!.

--this is a game jam alpha build for the Bezi games jam--

There is a small amount of AI used in the assets of this game (the cog icon and the BGM, made with perchanceai and suno respectively)

I started this project late, having the idea and then reading the announcement post of the Games jam wrong, kind of forgot about it. then 12 hours into the jam i looked again and found that the sign up time wasn't actually a close deadline and swiftly got to work.

after writing a simple yet comprehensive GDD, I pasted it into the project rules section of bezi and got to work. with every step I asked for help from my AI co-pilot Bezi. every step was smooth until a few hours before I wanted to build and submit! the number of fixes in place in my rudimentary code was overwhelming and a vital piece of the game became corrupted! I had to go back to a basic version of the game.

the post jam release will have those features restored, but sadly I didn't have time to get them back in for release.

the missing content was a review system post every era, that let you browse the cards you'd had and where you sent them, a quest system between eras where you are given task/quotas to fill from various sources, and a relic system that made processing souls easier. including 'Anubis spex', a 3d glasses filter that showed good and bad deeds.
